Merit Based Scholarships at Polytechnic University of Milan in Italy, 2017

Every year Polytechnic University of Milan offers a number of merit-based scholarships to the most talented international candidates admitted to a Master of Science programme.

The “Laurea Magistrale” degree (equivalent to Master of Science) is obtained after two years of postgraduate studies and aims to provide rigorous, advanced training in specific sectors. Once completed, the Laurea Magistrale programme gives access to a Doctoral programme.

The Polytechnic

University of Milan is the largest technical university in Italy, with about 40,000 students. It offers undergraduate, graduate and higher education courses in engineering, architecture and design.

All applicants need to provide a document attesting their English language knowledge. From now on this is a requirement both for English and for Italian taught programmes.

Italian Language: Students applying to an Italian taught programme must also provide an Italian language certificate, level B1 (Common European Framework).

Degree Level: The Polytechnic University of Milan operates 3 scholarship schemes, which provide financial support for full-time Non-EU and EU students enrolled in “Laurea Magistrale” (equivalent to Master of Science) programmes.

Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • PLATINUM Scholarship: Worth 10.000€ gross per year + tuition fees waiver. The amount of the scholarship will cover accommodation costs at one of Politecnico student residence, the remaining amount (after taxation) will be given as cash pocket money. The student will only have to pay an administrative fee.
  • GOLD Scholarship: Worth 5.000€ per year + tuition fees waiver. The amount of the scholarship will cover accommodation costs at one of Politecnico student residence, the remaining amount (after taxation) will be given as cash pocket money. The student will only have to pay an administrative fee.
  • SILVER Scholarship: Corresponding to a tuition fee waiver, covers the total amount of fees for the academic year. The student will only have to pay an administrative fee.

Number of Scholarships: The number of Platinum, Gold and Silver scholarships awarded varies from year to year, a small number of Platinum scholarships and a larger number of Gold and Silver scholarships are available.

Scholarships for programmes held in Milano campuses

  • 60 “POLITECNICO DI MILANO Gold Scholarships” addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programmes (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) offered on the Milano campuses.
  • 10 “POLITECNICO DI MILANO Platinum Scholarships” addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programmes (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) offered on the Milano campuses.

Scholarships for programmes held on Piacenza campus

  • 10 “POLIPIACENZA” scholarships ” addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programme (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) in Architecture (Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design) on Piacenza campus.
  • 10 “POLIPIACENZA” scholarships addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programme (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) in Energy Engineering (Renewables and Environmental Sustainability) offered on Piacenza campus.

Scholarships for programmes held on Mantova campus

  • 4 scholarships addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programme (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) in Architecture Design and History offered on Mantova campus.

Scholarships for programmes held on Lecco campuses

  • 10 UNIVERLECCO scholarships addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programmes (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) in Building and Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering for Risk Mitigation and Mechanical Engineering offered in English on Lecco campus.

Scholarships for programmes held on all Politecnico di Milano campuses

  • 100 “Politecnico di Milano Silver scholarships” addressed to international students who have been admitted for the academic year 2017/18 to one of the Laurea Magistrale programmes (2nd level title, corresponding to a Master of Science) on all the campuses of the Politecnico di Milano.

Nationality: International students can apply for these scholarships.

Entrance Requirement: Admission requirements to Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) programmes

  • Students with a University qualification obtained outside Italy
  • Foreign Students with a University qualification obtained in Italy

Test Requirement: GRE is only for applicants to Energy Engineering (only Piacenza Campus). Applicants are required to take the GRE test (Graduate Record Examination) through ETS DI code 6939 in due time to have test scores sent to Welcome Desk Piacenza within the last day of the application period. No minimum score is required, but the GRE level will affect your evaluation.

English Language Requirement:

Italian Language: Students applying to an Italian taught programme must also provide an Italian language certificate, level B1 (Common European Framework).

How to Apply: All the admitted students with a complete dossier (language certificate included by the deadline) will be automatically considered for the available merit based scholarships (there is no separate application for scholarships).

Application Form

Deadline: Merit-based scholarships for the first semester 2017-18 will be awarded by the end of March 2017 to applicants of the first call and by the end of April 2017 to applicants of the second call.
