Scholarship Description: National Center for Meteorological Research (CNRM) is inviting applications for an 18-month postdoctoral position starting in February 2018 in Toulouse, France. International applicants are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.
The main objective is to contribute to the 1st work package focusing on the development of advanced diagnostics to be used to constrain weather and climate models.
About University: The National Center for Meteorological Research (CNRM) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 3589) formed by CNRS and Météo-France. The CNRM carries out the main research activities and coordinates all the R & D actions of the French Public Administration, Météo-France, National Meteorological, and Climate Service. Its research activities are mainly carried out on the sites of Toulouse and Grenoble of Météo-France.
Degree Level: Fellowship is available to pursue Postdoctoral programme.
Available Subject: Fellowship is awarded in the climate research group of the CNRM in Toulouse (France) to work on the following subject: “Development and application of process-based and teleconnection diagnostics to assess the ability of climate models to simulate the mid-latitude atmospheric dynamics and teleconnections”.
Scholarship Benefits: The net salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from 2800€ to 3300€ after most of the taxes and health insurance premiums have been deducted.
Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the fellowship:
- A Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or an engineer diploma obtained before the date of the application.
- Experience with mid-latitude atmospheric dynamics and teleconnections.
- Strong programming skills in post-processing and visualization software (e.g., CDO, NCL, R), as well as experience in handling large data sets.
- Strong communication and organizational skills and an ability to effectively communicate results of scientific research in APPLICATE meetings and international workshops.
