Scholarship Description: The Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE) at Heriot-Watt University is offering PhD Scholarships in the Centre for Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO2 Solutions. The funding is available to UK, EU and international students.
The Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE) at Heriot-Watt University is the UK’s foremost authority in the teaching and research of engineering challenges facing the oil and gas industry.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD programme.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the Centre for Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO2 Solutions.
Scholarship Award: The scholarships will cover tuition fees and provide an annual stipend of approximately £15,000 for the 36-month duration of the project.
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have a minimum of an upper second-class BSc degree in a relevant scientific subject (or international equivalent). An MSc in Physics, Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering is beneficial. Applicants should be numerate with an understanding of experimental design and should have experience with modelling multi-phase flow in porous media. Prior experience with laboratory work and a working knowledge of reservoir simulation packages or conventional modelling software is essential. Applicants are also required to possess the ability to write reports, collate information and present it in a clear and engaging manner. Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail are also required.
- Previous experience of working in the rock and fluid laboratories is desirable.
English Language Requirements: University requires an IELTS certificate showing an overall score of at least 6.5 with no component scoring less than 6.0 or a TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 90 points.
