We are offering an internship based in Labrador City, Newfoundland, and Labrador at our Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) operations. This internship will allow you to support our projects and engineering team, responsible for leading and coaching multidisciplinary teams to safely and efficiently deliver capital and operating projects. You will help support ore delivery projects, encompassing a wide range of projects from mine operations to ore transport. Whether you’ll be helping deliver a new technology solution, supporting a building improvement, or helping to engineer and procure additions to our haul fleet, you can be certain that every day on our team will bring a new and exciting challenge.
Although your day-to-day role will fluctuate based on the needs of your projects, you can be certain to gain valuable hands-on field experience within our mine interacting with safety officers, construction contractors, and our mine technical team. You will have a chance to hone your computing skills using a variety of Microsoft programs and specialized project management tools. You’ll be able to interface with various department groups including the mine operations group, the cost control team, the procurement team, discipline engineers, power distribution, the environmental and industrial hygiene group, and various engineering consulting firms.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
• At least one year completed* in engineering (various disciplines will be considered) or any other related field
• Valid driving license
• Safety mindset
• Leadership skills, eagerness to learn, and ready for the challenge ahead
• Flexibility and autonomy
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
• To be eligible for this internship, you must be returning to school after the work term and have the right to work in Canada.
