Qualifications
•Demonstrates strong writing skills, particularly the ability to present persuasive, coherent, and well-founded arguments
• Can write in a style that is accessible to a broad audience of policymakers, academics, and activists
• Can communicate clearly and persuasively
•Ability to convert complex and abstract ideas into simple visual concepts
•Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
•Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and be aware of political sensitivities
•Familiarity with content management systems, graphic design, and photo editing software applications (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
•Familiarity with social media platforms and graphic design and photo editing software applications (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop)
•Candidate must be enrolled in a degree program in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, or another related field
•Enrolled in the graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent or higher);
•Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
•Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation;
•Good understanding of international relations and development
•Knowledge of online communication technologies
•Knowledge of web design, usability, information architecture
•Knowledge of search engine optimization techniques and web analytics tools
•Competency in content management
•Proficiency in professional desktop publishing, photo editing, graphic digital design, and presentation
•Knowledge of HTML and CSS is an advantage
•Knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Power Bi is an advantage
•Experience in communications and social media outreach
•Self-starter; organized; able to multitask and balance multiple responsibilities
•Fluency in English is required

Responsibilities
•Under the guidance and supervision of the Dual Key Investment Manager, and in close coordination with the Dual Key Communications Lead, the Intern will support the implementation of the UNCDF Dual Key communications work plan for 2022, including various related tasks to (i) Communications and Branding and (ii) SDG Impact, Knowledge Management and lessons learned across the investment portfolio
•Update content of UNCDF’s Dual Key website, including investment teasers, technical documents and lessons learned, and news texts
•Keep the website compliant with the organization’s branding, taxonomy, and web management policies and guidelines
•Source, edit and publish photos and videos
•Conceptualize, create and publish visual pieces, e.g. infographics, to improve user experience
•Support the gathering and consolidation of information, case studies, news, and stories for the Dual Key website
•Provide editorial and design inputs to enhance the site, marketing materials, brochures, newsletter, and other communication materials focused on transformative Impact and learning
•Write blogs, features and success stories about results achieved and efforts pursued under the Dual Key investment portfolio, based on relevant inputs from project/program managers, investment officers, partners, and donors
•Assist in boosting the Dual Key advocacy efforts and presence in online communications and social media; assist in providing regular content to UNCDF online platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram
•Assist the Dual Key team is organizing its Annual Planning and Investment meeting, events, seminars and conferences, podcast, newsletter, and other global campaigns
•Further, the internship manager is committed to providing the intern with the training, guidance, and support necessary to complete the below duties and responsibilities effectively and within the internship period
•This will include, but not be limited to, scheduled meetings (weekly) to assess output progress, systems training (if required), and completion of required university reports to meet any necessary Degree requirements
•Demonstrate consistency in upholding and promoting the values of UNCDF in actions and decisions, in line with the UN Code of Conduct
•Demonstrate an appreciation of the multicultural nature of the organization and the diversity of its staff
•Demonstrate an international outlook, appreciating differences in values and learning from cultural diversity
•Under the new revised UNDP Internship Policy, UNCDF will provide a modest monthly internship stipend to its interns, by the provisions of the UNDP Internship Policy

 

 

Benefits
•The costs associated with the assignment will be partially supported by UNCDF and the rest to be borne by the nominating institution, related institution, or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her arrangements for travel, accommodation, etc
•All expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern or her/his sponsoring entity/institution
•Stipends are available only for full-time/on-site internships at this time
•Selected Interns must be able to share proof of education enrolment and/ or graduation, medical/health, and life/accident insurance, valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out, and be able to provide insurance documentary proof at the time of their selection
