Several full-time three-year and four-year EPSRC Ph.D. studentships in mathematics and statistics are available, commencing 1 October 2022. Studentships cover fees, including a stipend (£15,609 per annum in 2020–2021 for full-time study, plus £1250 annual travel allowance). Self-funded part-time Ph.D. study is also available for some projects.
Situated on the Open University Campus in Milton Keynes, the School of Mathematics and Statistics provides a friendly and flexible working environment for all its staff and students and holds a Bronze Athena Swan award. We particularly welcome applications from women. The School ensures that every female Ph.D. student is allocated a female member of staff as a point of contact and organizes networking events for female academic staff and Ph.D. students.
Several research projects will be available, covering topics in pure and applied mathematics, theoretical physics, and statistics. Full details of projects will be available at
