We have six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third-party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. Responsibilities
Assisting the EHS team on site in:
- Promote a culture of Behavioural Based Safety in the workplace.
- Identify and implement best practices to continuously improve site processes and procedures to mitigate the potential of risk to employees.
- Meet monthly metrics as set by Abbott Corporate.
- Drive Near Miss Reporting and follow up actions.
- Ensure compliance to Abbott International EHS Technical Standards.
- Advise and audit the compliance of health and safety legislation.
- Oversee and manage all preventative and protective procedures, conduct risk assessments and inspections and identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Carry out other ad hoc EHS or site duties and projects as required.
- Ensure environmental compliance with regulatory expectations and provide leadership and direction in these areas.
- Advise and audit the compliance of Industrial Emission license and Green House Gas Permit conditions and EU ETS.
- Ensure compliance with Abbott International EHS Technical Standards & Management Standards.
- Responsible for Environmental reporting documentation as required by Division and Corporate.
- Manage environmental performance data and report environmental data to Corporate on a monthly basis; report energy, waste, water projects to Corporate on an annual basis
- Ensure ISO 14001, ISO 45001 & ISO 50001 certification is maintained including management for documentation
- Provide training support as per relevant standards and requirements
- Support security programme overview on site
- This list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible where this need arises.
- The EHS intern will report to the EHS Manager

What are we looking for?
To apply for an Internship position, the following criteria need to be applicable:
- Available to commence a 6, 9 or 12 month placement from June 2022
- Pursuing a third level Undergraduate or Post Graduate in Environmental Health and Safety.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 2.1 Grade in their degree course
- Good communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills
- Flexibility to be based at one of our Abbott sites around Ireland
