Newcastle University is offering MA Scholarships for students commencing studies in October 2017. These scholarships are open to Home, EU and non-EU international applicants within the School of Modern Languages.
Newcastle University is a public research university located in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North-East of England. The university can trace its origins to a School of Medicine and Surgery, established in 1834, and to the College of Physical Science, founded in 1871.
If your first language is not English you need IELTS 7.0, with a minimum of 6.5 in speaking and writing and 6.0 in listening and reading. This qualification must be no more than two years old on starting the course. No other English language qualifications are accepted.
Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s programme.
Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded within the School of Modern Languages.
List of Subjects: Professional Translation for European Languages (French, German, Italian, Spanish), Translating and Interpreting, MA Translating, MA Interpreting, MA Translation Studies (Chinese Strand) and Film Theory & Practice
Scholarship Benefits: Scholarships are available up to the value of £5,000, awarded as a tuition fee discount.
Eligibility: To be considered for a scholarship you must hold an offer of admission on one of the eligible programmes.
Nationality: Home, EU and non-EU international applicants are eligible to apply.
Entrance Requirement: A 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent.
English Language Requirement: Applicants must hold an English language qualification of IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent with no subskill below 6.0, if their first language is not English.
How to Apply: Applications for the MA Scholarships must be submitted by email to the School of Modern Languages. Applications should include the following:
1. A CV of no more than 2 sides of A4, outlining relevant experience
2. A letter of application (600 words maximum) stating the reference number of your MA application and outlining the following:
- Motivation for Masters study
- Tour reasons for choosing Newcastle University
- How your experience to date has prepared you for this course
- How this programme of study will help you to achieve your future goals.
