The Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship program allocates over $3 million annually to support research graduates at Dalhousie. The primary objectives are to attract and retain top-tier research graduates and to foster exploration, discovery, and innovation in areas crucial to Nova Scotia. To be eligible, students should not have commenced their intended program of study before December 31 of the competition year. Master’s students can avail of NSGS funding for up to 24 months, but not beyond their second program year. Those planning to transition to a PhD at Dalhousie without completing their thesis can continue to receive NSGS funding at the master’s level for the original eligible award duration. However, to secure doctoral level NSGS funding, students must apply for a doctoral scholarship before officially transitioning into the doctoral program.
