Scholarship Description: University of Queensland is pleased to offer PhD Scholarship within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture & Info Tech. Domestic as well as International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

The ARC DP is aimed at developing a novel class of porous, biocompatible, biofunctional and biodegradable magnesium (Mg) alloy scaffolds with designed pore architecture and mechanical properties mimicking those of natural bone for bone tissue engineering applications.

Scholarship Benefits: The current RTP Stipend rate is AUD$26,682.00 per annum (2017 rate, indexed annually) tax-free for three years with the possibility of two 6-month extensions in approved circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

Expression of Interest are invited from outstanding and enthusiastic engineering or science graduates who have a four-year bachelor degree (or equivalent) with Honours class I in materials engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical and materials engineering, chemical engineering, chemical and materials engineering or physics; and have an intense interest in the interaction of hydrogen and medium strength steels.

Applicants must fulfill the PhD admission criteria for the University of Queensland, including English Language requirements and demonstrated excellent capacity and potential for research. Demonstration of research ability through publication output in peer reviewed international journals is desirable.

Eligible Nationality: Domestic as well as International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

  • A curriculum vitae detailing education, professional experience, research experience, publications, and relevant competencies;
  • Academic transcript for all post-secondary study undertaken, complete or incomplete, including the institution grading scale;
  • Award certificates for all completed post-secondary study
  • Evidence for meeting UQ’s English language proficiency requirements; and
  • The name and contact details of three referees who can best comment on your prior research experience. UQ will contact your referees directly, but you will need to enter their details into the application form.
