Scholarship Description: Karolinska Institute is delighted to offer a Postdoctoral position in periodontal pathogenesis (scholarship) to study in Sweden. International applicants are eligible to apply for this position.

Available Subject: Scholarship is awarded in periodontal pathogenesis. This postdoctoral position is available from Fall 2017 in the research group of Prof. Nagihan Bostanci, at the newly formed Division of Oral Diseases, Department of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet. The postdoctoral scientist who will fulfil this position is expected to be independent, with a strong background in host-biofilm interaction modelling and application of quantitative proteomics, to carry out a research project focused on the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases. This interdisciplinary project requires knowledge and skills in cell biology, microbiology, molecular biology and high-throughput omic technologies.

Qualifications
The applicant must hold a doctoral degree or a foreign qualification equivalent to a doctorate. A Ph.D. in biological/natural sciences is required, preferably on related to the study of oral/periodontal diseases. Experience in organotypic tissue cultures, biofilm models and quantitative proteomics is a strong merit. The successful candidate should demonstrate competence and independence in performing laboratory work, be highly motivated and exhibit strong organisational, writing, and communication skills.
Entry requirements
Scholarships for carrying out postdoctoral research may be granted to persons living in other countries who come to Sweden with the intention of only staying in Sweden for all or part of their postdoctoral education at KI. Persons who are resident in Sweden and/or have carried out all or part of their academic education at KI or some other educational institution in Sweden cannot be considered for scholarships from KI. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher.
