Roberto Longhi Foundation Research Fellowships for Non-Italian Citizens in Italy, 2017-2018

The Roberto Longhi Foundation for History of Art Studies is currently accepting applications for a number of fellowships for the academic year 2017-2018, beginning October 1, 2017. Non-Italian citizens are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.

The fellowships are designed for those, who seriously want to dedicate themselves to research in the History of Art.

Fondazione Roberto Longhi, Via Benedetto Fortini, Florence, is an institute established by Italian scholar Roberto Longhi, who in 1971 left his library, photo library and collection of art “for the benefit of future generations”. The Foundation’s preferred sphere of interest is art historical research. It also focuses on artists and specific artistic themes, including contemporary art and artists. The museum (pinacoteca) of the Foundation is open only to scholars and by appointment.

Degree  Level: Fellowships are available to pursue research.

Available Subject: Fellowships are awarded in the History of Art.

Scholarship Benefits: The fellowships will be paid in monthly installments over a period of nine months, beginning in October 2017 until June 2018. The total amount of the grant will be of 5.400 Euro.

Number of Scholarships: A number of fellowships are available for the year 2017-2018.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • Non-Italian citizens should have fulfilled the preliminary requirements for a Doctoral Degree in the History of Art at an accredited university or an institution of equal standing.

Eligible Nationality: Non-Italian citizens are eligible to apply for this fellowship programme.

Application Procedure: Applications should be addressed to the secretariat of the Fondazione and sent within May 15, 2017.

Applications should include:

a) The candidate biographical data (place of birth, domicile, and citizenship);
b) A transcript of the candidate’s undergraduate and graduate records;
c) A printed copy of the degree thesis and of the original works, published and unpublished;
d) A “curriculum studiorum”, indicating also the spoken and written knowledge of foreign languages;
e) Letters of recommendation from at least two persons of academic standing who are acquainted with the candidate’s work;
f) The subject of the research which the candidate is interested in pursuing within the History of Art;
g) Two passport photographs.
To be accepted the applications must be complete and signed and should be sent via e-mail and also by post.

Deadline: Fellowship application deadline is May 15, 2017.
