RTDNF Journalism Fellowships and Scholarships for US and Non-US Applicants in USA, 2017

The Radio Television Digital News Association offers Fellowships and Scholarships for the US as well as Non-US students. These Fellowships and Scholarship are available to pursue Journalism Programmes for the academic year 2017-2018.

These Fellowships and scholarships aim to assist high education achieving and highly motivated US and Non-US students at The Radio Television Digital News Association.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), formerly the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA), is a United States-based membership organization of radio, television, and online news directors, producers, executives, reporters, students, and educators. Among its functions are the maintenance of journalistic ethics and the preservation of the free speech rights of broadcast journalists.

Degree Level: Fellowships and Scholarships are available for Journalism programme.

Available Subject: Fellowships are open to college students pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism.

Scholarship Benefits: RTDNF has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships and fellowships to more than 500 young journalists as part of its mission as the educational arm of RTDNA.

 

Eligibility Criteria: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for fellowships and scholarship:

  • Fellowships are open to professional broadcast or digital journalists with fewer than 10 years of experience. Scholarships are open to college students pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism.
  • Winners must be officially enrolled, full-time sophomores. Juniors or seniors in good standing. Scholarship and fellowship winners are also invited to attend the Excellence in Journalism conference.

Eligible Nationality: The US, as well as Non-US applicants, can apply for this fellowships and scholarship, but if you are a non-citizen, you must have a US Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

 

Application Procedure: Complete the online application forms, including:

  • Contact information
  • Experience
  • URL links to 3-5 work samples
  • Work samples should be broadcast (television/radio) or online news pieces
  • Work samples should be uploaded to a host site like YouTube, Vimeo, Sound Cloud, etc.

Upload the supplemental materials:

  • Cover letter
  • Discuss your current and past journalism experience
  • Describe how you intend to use the funds
  • Discuss your choice to pursue a career in journalism
  • Addressed to RTDNF Scholarship Committee
  • Resume
  • Letter of recommendation
  • From a professor, advisor, or supervisor
  • Addressed to RTDNF Scholarship Committee
