Scholarship Description: The Silver Eye Center for Photography announces international photography competition. Now in its 18th year, this competition recognizes both rising talents and established photographers from all corners of the globe and from the state of Pennsylvania.
New this year, in addition to the International and Keystone Award winners, one Publication Prize winner will be awarded to an artist with an exceptional body of work. The Publication Prize awards a limited-edition print-run publication based on the winner’s submitted body of work co-published and distributed by Spaces Corners (Pittsburgh).
Eligibility:
All U.S. and international amateur and professional photographers, age 18 and older at the time of submission, may apply.
Silver Eye staff and their relatives, board members, current interns, and past Fellowship winners are not eligible to apply.
Awards:
- One (1) International Award Winner receives a solo exhibition at Silver Eye opening summer 2018; $3,000 cash prize; an online gallery on Silver Eye’s website (with a link to artist website), and; media outreach and promotion.
- One (1) Keystone Award Winner, reserved for a Pennsylvania artist, receives a spotlight exhibition summer 2018; $1,000 cash prize; an online gallery on Silver Eye’s website (with a link to artist website), and; media outreach and promotion.
- One (1) Publication Prize Winner receives a limited-edition print-run publication based on the winner’s submitted body of work; publication distribution by Spaces Corners in fall 2018, and; 25 artist copies of the publication.
- Up to five (5) Juror’s Commendation Winners will be named on Silver Eye’s website and press releases.
How to Enter
Submissions will be accepted via Silver Eye’s website, www.silvereye.org/fellowship.
Complete the online application form, upload media, and submit fees.

What to Enter
The submission you are entering is comprised of three individual items: 1) a one-page Artist’s Statement in PDF format; 2) your biography or CV in PDF format, and 3) your work sample.
You may submit up to twenty (20) images from a cohesive, exhibition-ready body of work created within the past three years. Or, if from an ongoing project, the portfolio must include images created within the past three years.
Submitted work may not have been previously exhibited at Silver Eye or in the Greater Pittsburgh region.
For the best image quality and fast upload, image files must be no larger than 1,500 pixels wide.
