Scholarship Description: The Queen Mary University is accepting applications for Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries for the academic year 2018-2019.
About University: QMUL is one of the UK’s leading research-focused higher education institutions. With around 17,840 students, 4,000 staff and an annual turnover of £300m, it is one of the biggest University of London colleges.
Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate programme.
Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.
Scholarship Benefits:
- Queen Mary University of London Bursary: £1,700 per year if your household income is £15,000 or less, or £750 per year if your household income is between £15,001 and £30,000
- Queen Mary and Westfield Alumni Bursary: £1,250 per year for three years
- Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation Scholarship: £1,250 per year for three years
Sally Sainsbury History Scholarship 2018-19: £1,250 per year for three years - Unite Foundation Scholarship 2018-19: Accommodation for each year of your studies at Rahere Court
- Derek Shuttleworth Educational Trust Scholarship: £1,000 per year for three years
- The Steel Charitable Trust Scholarship: £18,000 (split over three-years based on progression criteria)
- Eligible nationalities: Home/EU/Overseas students are eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria:
Queen Mary University of London Bursary:
- You will be automatically assessed for this bursary using the information you provide to Student Finance England (or equivalent)
Queen Mary and Westfield Alumni Bursary:
- You must have enrolled in September 2018 and be in the first year of your course in either the Faculty of Science and Engineering or the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
- You must be a permanent resident in the City of London, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the London Borough of Newham or the London Borough of Hackney and have lived there for at least three years
- You must have been assessed by Student Finance as having a residual household income of £42,875 a year or less.
- You will have to make an application to be considered for one of the Queen Mary and Westfield Alumni Bursaries and application forms will be available after September 2018 enrolment
Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation Scholarship:
- For 2018-19 entry students, ten scholarships will be available, subject to confirmation
- You must have enrolled in September 2018 and be in the first year of your course
- You must be under 25 years old at the start of the course
- You must be a permanent resident in the City of London or London Borough of Tower Hamlets and have lived there for at least three years
- You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,875 or less
- You will have to make an application to be considered for one of the Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation Scholarships and application forms will be available after September 2018 enrolment
- Sally Sainsbury History Scholarship 2018-19:
Unite Foundation Scholarship 2018-19:
- You must have firmly accepted an offer of a place at Queen Mary on an eligible programme
- You must be undertaking your first and the only course of undergraduate study, if you have not been to this or another university previously
- You must be a Care Leaver or Estranged from both parents
- You must have an assessed household income of £25,000 per annum or less each year
- You must have given Student Finance England consent to share your financial information with Queen Mary
- Priority will be given to young independent students who have previously been in Local Authority care or residing in a Foyer or similar residential provision for young homeless adults
- You must intend to stay in your free allocated accommodation for the duration of your degree
Derek Shuttleworth Educational Trust Scholarship:
- For 2018-19 entry students, one scholarship will be available, subject to confirmation
- You must have enrolled in September 2018 and be in the first year of your course
- You must be a permanent resident in the London Borough of Hackney and have lived there for at least three years
- You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,875 or less
- You will have to make an application to be considered for the Derek Shuttleworth Scholarship and application forms will be available after September 2018 enrolment
The Steel Charitable Trust Scholarship:
- The Steel Charitable Trust are offering one UG scholarship for 2018 entry
- You must have selected QMUL as your firm choice
- You must be a permanent resident in Luton
- You must be assessed by Student Finance England as having a household income of £42,875 or less
- Applications will open in March 2018 for the Steel Charity Trust Scholarship and results announced early July 2018
- You must have enrolled in September 2018 and be in the first year of your course in order to receive this scholarship
- The fee will be paid in cash
- The student must achieve 60% + in order to continue the scholarship for the forthcoming years.
Application Procedure: As a scholarship recipient, you will be expected to:
- Provide a testimonial on your studies at Queen Mary the impact of receiving a scholarship;
- Assist at a maximum of three events organised by your School or the University. Events may include but are not limited to the following:Complete scholarship survey
Photoshoots or filming
Attending the scholar’s reception
