Scholarship Description: The University of Sheffield is offering five fully funded PhD scholarships at the Faculty of Science. These scholarships are available to students from the UK and international students.
Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD programme.
Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the following departments: Animal and Plant Sciences, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Physics and Astronomy and Psychology.
Scholarship Benefits: These scholarships are fully funded.
Number of Scholarships: There are five fully funded PhD scholarships available.
Eligible Nationalities: UK, EU or overseas students can apply for these scholarships.
Entrance Requirements: University welcome applications from students with excellent degrees from UK, EU or overseas institutions. Minimally, applicants should hold or be about to obtain, an upper second class (2:1) degree from a UK university, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised EU or overseas institution. Studentships will be awarded competitively, so relevant research experience and/or Masters level degree qualifications will be significant enhancements. Studentships will pay the equivalence of a standard RCUK stipend and Home, EU or overseas fees as appropriate.

If you are considering a Faculty of Science Scholarship, please note the following before you submit your application through the University of Sheffield’s postgraduate online application system. The form you will complete is divided into two parts:
- Part 1 is for personal information, including English language ability, and previous education and employment. You have to complete all of the mandatory fields in this part (marked with a *) before you can go on to Part 2.
- Part 2 is where you select the postgraduate research project you want to apply for. You can apply for a total of three ‘standard PhD’ projects. To be considered for these fully funded opportunities please select ‘ the University of Sheffield Scholarship’ in the ‘Funding’ section. You will then be asked to fill in an additional ‘Scholarship Application’, where you should select ‘University scholarships’.
Identify a potential project and supervisor from the departmental ‘PhD projects’ webpages above, please complete the University’s postgraduate online application form to apply. Applications for 2018/19 entry are now open, the closing date is Wednesday 24 January 2018. Late applications can not be accepted.
